Centroid CNC: We’re Here During IMTS Week + Hickory EtherCAT Updates

We’re answering the phone this week while they’re at IMTS

IMTS is happening in Chicago, but Centroid CNC is staying right here in Pennsylvania — in the shop, on the phone, and online, ready to help with your CNC projects.

Centroid CNC is here to help during IMTS week

Have a question about a CNC job, a control, or whether a new machine or a retrofit is the right move? Talk to a Centroid CNC expert. Call or email us for one-on-one guidance.

While other companies are busy on the show floor, our team is here to answer your questions directly. Get one-on-one guidance and practical answers now!

A new CNC machine can look simple on a show floor. The bigger picture often becomes apparent later: options beyond the advertised machine price, installation time, fixtures, tooling, training, and ongoing service.

For many applications, a Centroid CNC retrofit may be the better path.

Keep the machine you already know and add a modern CNC control that you can run and understand. When you need help, Centroid is available by phone and remote access. That combination of support and remote service helps keep CNC service and support costs among the lowest in the industry.

Need help with a CNC project? We’re here this week.

Hickory: Centroid’s 8-Axis EtherCAT CNC Controller

With Centroid's Hickory CNC Controller, you get smoother multi-axis motion, flexible drive options, fewer cables in the control cabinet, and significantly reduced controller installation labor.

Hickory is made in the USA and can be used for milling machines, lathes, routers, plasma, fiber lasers, and many other specialty machine tools.

Centroid Hickory EtherCAT CNC platform

What does EtherCAT mean on the shop floor?

EtherCAT motion provides the accuracy and smoothness needed for high-quality CNC motion, while also simplifying machine installation and control cabinet wiring.

EtherCAT can eliminate expensive point-to-point axis cabling and reduce the number of cables inside the control cabinet. The result is a cleaner installation and easier machine setup.

Hickory also supports automatic drive recognition and tuning, reliable drive communication, and a selection of commodity EtherCAT drives — helping avoid being locked into a proprietary drive communication system.

Hickory Features

  • 8 axes on one control — including multi-paired axes with automatic squaring and multiple rotary axes.
  • Wide selection of EtherCAT motor and drive systems including Yaskawa Sigma-7 / Sigma-X, Delta ASDA-B3-E / B3A-E, Leadshine EL7 / EL8, Glentek, Teknic ClearPath-EC, Estun, Inovance, and LS Electric.
  • Auto-recognize and mix-and-match drives — supported drive models can share the same EtherCAT daisy chain.
  • C-Axis support
  • Delta C2000 VFD support for spindle control, with published setup information and schematics to help simplify configuration.
  • Advanced Encoder Support — Hickory supports incremental and absolute encoders across its encoder interfaces, with absolute encoder support for advanced EtherCAT axis-control applications. Absolute feedback can preserve machine position through power cycles, reducing the need for homing and helping prevent position-reset errors.
  • Centroid CNC API — run Centroid CNC12 headless and create your own complete custom CNC UI/UX using commonly available programming tools.
  • Buy-once CNC software licensing — Centroid CNC12 uses an ownership model with optional, affordable upgrades for new CNC features and no software subscriptions.
  • Long product life cycle — Centroid continues to provide parts, repair, support, and software updates for its CNC products.
  • Made in the USA — Centroid hardware and software are engineered for durability, with the best lifetime cost of any CNC controller on the market.
